Potty Training

We started PT'ing DS (who is 2.5 years old) this past Saturday using the "3 day potty training" book as a guide. I have been really positive and hopeful about the whole process until today. We are on day 5 and DS has not made it into the toilet even once. Twice he went into the bathroom on his own, but peed on the floor (and we celebrated those moments and praised him for making it that far). But, all other times he has just peed where he stood (the living room floor, the couch, a chair, etc) with no warning. He has stayed dry for naps and overnight.

I'm beginning to second guess if he is ready and am really close to just putting him back in diapers or pull ups for awhile. We also have a 2 month old at home and I'm now questioning why I ever thought adding potty training to my plate would be a good idea.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Would you keep on trucking or wait until he's closer to 3?

  • I would keep going! If he's starting to make it into the bathroom, he's almost there. Have you tried setting a timer and taking him to the bathroom every 10, 15, 30 minutes (you choose when you think). That's what we did and it worked really well. By t
