Ergo

Any mommies out there with an Ergo? Ella LOVES ours! It helps put her right to sleep and even calms a gassy tummy. The only trouble is her head flops when she passes out and I am worried about her suffocating against my chest. She is a teeny tiny 6 pounder. I have the straps super tight - I think too tight! It is KILLING my back now and didn't use to. Any advice on how to fix this? How should I be wearing the carrier? I feel like I am doing it incorrectly. I am brand new to babywearing (sorry I hate that word) and need to know how to do it best. I have watched the tutorial on youtube but still don't quite understand where everything should be positioned and how tight everything should be. My back is really achy with the chest and arm pieces pulled so tight. I am a very petite person at only 5'4" and 110 lbs. Thanks!

Re: Ergo

  • Are you using the infant insert? I have worn my DD both ways but find her head flops less without it

  • maybe try wrapping a blanket around the infant insert or cuffing the insert up top to support her head better.

I have an ergo too and find that she tends to mash her face into my chest too while she's sleeping. I just check on her often and

  • I put mine away until she can support her head better. I had all the same problems that you're having and decided that the Moby works better right now. Plus you can sit down while wearing it!

  • I ran into the same problem with the ergo.  I still swear that the moby is the way to go while they are little like this and the ergo and boba are great when they are a little bigger.
  • Even with the infant insert the Ergo is only recommended to use once they are 8 pounds. I suggest a moby or katan until she's bigger
