Computer Gurus come in

DH laptop just gave us the "blue screen of death" ... I'm going to take it in and hope that they can recover all the pictures off of it, then see if it would be smarter to repair the computer or just go new.

I'm looking to get an external hard drive to keep pictures on going forward, that way it keeps space free on the computer, I'm thinking this is a good idea?  How much space do you need on those?  I tried looking into it, but was rather confused. haha..

So I thought why not ask here???!!

  • This JUST happened to me last week. I started the computer in "safe mode" and did a system restore and it didn't lose any of my files. I have all of my pictures backed up to an external harddrive though, so that is why i was brave enough to do it that

  • I work with LaCie rugged drives & also use them for personal storage. I'd get at least a 500GB, but would probably go for a 1TB since they're pretty affordable.

    I agree with the PP about starting up in Safe Mode & see if you can at least

  • I second western digital. Our LaCie just up and died on us after less than a year. It was mostly SOs stuff, but he was pissed. I have 3 WD and haven't had any problems yet.
