heart defects??

Anyone else out there having or had a baby with a heart defect? We just found out this week our sweet girl will need open heart surgery immediately following birth. Fortunately, we were a little prepared for there to be something wrong, since my BIL has a heart defect, so it wasn't a total shock when they called in the cardiologist. Now we're in a whirlwind of doctors and extra screening tests, and I'm just wondering if there's anyone else out there in a similar boat.

  • My son had open heart surgery at 3 weeks old when he was failing to thrive and found a heart murmur. 

     

    They would have never seen the defect in utereo but we were able to detect at the right time.   My son will be 4 in a few

  • Lauren had open heart surgery at 6 weeks old. It sucked, to be totally honest! But now at a year old she is totally healthy and you'd never know she was so sick.
