For moms with little boys

LO is currently going 4ish hours between feedings at night. However, almost 9 times out of 10 when he wakes up to be fed he has a wet diaper that has leaked through his clothes and swaddle sack resulting in a diaper and outfit change in the middle of each feeding. That doesn't seem normal as he does sleep on his back although he sometimes rolls onto his side.

So moms, what am I doing wrong here and any advice to avoid this??

Do you point his penis down? Also the type of diaper may make a difference. We had that problem with huggies. Now we use pampers and haven't had a problem since.

I agree with the other PPs, but would like to add the question about the diaper ruffles... After you finish taping the diaper together, do you run your fingers along the leg seams to pull out the ruffles? Sometimes they will block the seal on the inside o

We have this problem with our bigger boy. We make sure to point the penis down but found the diapers were too small and he was peeing out the top. We haven't had a leak since we went up to size 2 and the diaper comes up higher on his body.

Thanks for the responses. I've been using Huggies brand and just went up to size 1 a week ago. I have some pampers sitting around that I'll try and pay attention to getting the penis down and the ruffles hadn't thought of that!

We had the same problem when we first brought my son home. He was too big for newborns from day one but he was still leaking through. We were using pampers but switched to Huggies little snugglers and they are working much better! Pamper

I'd say definitely check the diaper brand. It's crazy how they differ for each baby. My DD did horrible in huggies, but with DS the pampers leak so we use huggies!
