So my EBF DD is 6 and a half months old, and has always been a bad sleeper. She takes multiple little cat naps during the day, and has always had at least two night feedings. All this was fine until at 3.5 months she started waking 5-8 times a night. I thought it was 4 month wakeful, but it never went away. So I realized, after the pediatrician assured me this was not normal or good, that she just had bad sleep associations. Namely being rocked to sleep, and we decided to tackle those. We began Ferber last friday.
The first two nights were great, she only cried for 26 mins the first night, and not at all on night 2. I still fed her twice during the night, since I really only wanted to tackle one prob at a time. NIght 3 was bad...she cried for 26 mins again and actually woke completely multiple times that night. We did the intervals, and I hoped it was just a fluke. Sadly every night since then has been the same...only she goes down easy at bedtime now. She still completely wakes multiple times a night, and we are on night six. I thought it would be better by now! Last night she cried off and on for 45 mins at one of her wakings, I almost gave up.
Now for what I think we're doing wrong...I admit I can't take the crying, so I haven't ever really expanded the intervals since night two. I still go in at five mins, then at seven, yada, yada. I think I also do this because DD always has here arm stuck when I go in, and I imagine her in pain or something. Also she can't roll from belly to back yet, and will get stuck on her tummy which she hates. DH thinks it will get better if we do the intervals correctly, and that I'm making excuses for her. I think that she doesn't understand why she gets fed when she wakes sometimes and doesn't at others...so I would need to night wean to fix the issue, which I'm just not ready for yet. Uggh...I am lost. I really don't like her crying for 45 mins a night, I only agreed to Ferber because it seemed like a fast solution.
If you got this far into my novel, thank you. I just want to know what others experience is, and if everyone agrees with DH lol. We do have the book, so I can look up anything someone thinks I've missed. For any anti CIO folks, trust me I didn't come to Ferber lightly..I was at the end of my rope.
Re: advice...if you did Ferber
I do think it's easier to Ferber once they've given up the MOTN feedings. Because like you said, it is confusing if they get to eat one time, but not every time. And it's also harder for you to distinguish if you should be trying to feed her or leave h
We did Ferber for going to bed but since my LO only wakes once a night, we still go ahead and give him a bottle once a night. There is a separate chapter about night weaning and you don't have to do it all at once. I'm a little unclear abou
Our pedi said for us to do this as well, and mind you we have not had any issues with our baby girl's sleeping ( she is 8-months). Our bedtime routine has always been the same, we sit down in the rocking chair with a bubba and music on softl

I am in almost your exact situation. We Ferbered about a month and a half ago. Yet, he still wakes multiple times at night. I have not been ready to night wean but I have been suspecting that the night wakings/crying has not fully resolved because he i
