I'm the mom to an almost 1 year old adorable little boy (he turns 1 on Saturday). I struggled to get pregnant but after 2 rounds of IVF we were blessed with our little man. I had always thought I'd have more than one, but I'm 99% sure we are done and not entirely by choice.
We do have frozen embryos and technically could try for a sibling. I think a lot of other IF'ers can relate ... I'm scared to make the decision to try for another and not have one of my 3 frozen take. Then what? I swore and promised my husband I would NOT do another fresh IVF cycle, not to mention we can't afford another fresh cycle.
We are done for a couple other reasons though. Financially we can't really afford another. I'm 36, my husband is 43. We feel really blessed and happy with Bren and don't feel that we need another. We have a 3.5 year old niece that is about as close to a daughter as we can get without actually having her. She is also an only and will be an only so I feel as if the two of them have each other. But I wonder how close they will be since they are a boy and a girl.
It scares me though because I have a sister that I am SUPER close to and I want that for my son. At the same time, I realize that even if I had a second they may not have that kind of relationship or I could have a girl and she and my niece might be best buds and poor B would be left out.
My husband is a fragile X carrier and could pass that on to a girl ... that scares me too.
I do get jealous of my friends that are trying for a second or have 2 as I still have a spot in my heart that wants another pregnancy and babe.
So for several reasons, we are more than likely one and done. And I'm so happy to have a spot to chat about this stuff freely with other moms.
Oh and I own a preschool so I definitely get my fill of kids every day!

Haha neither am I. The board is pretty dead since everyone moved to Facebook. I check in occasionally, but honestly this board is the best reason to be on TB that I've found recently.
Thank you! She is my little star. Happy early birthday to Bre

Hi, I remember your story from the IF/PAIF board.
I can relate to a lot of your feelings. Especially the jealousy. Many of my friends with children similar in age to my son are TTC, or pregnant. I don't feel ready at all. Maybe never.
