Natural birth

My friend really wants a natural birth like I'm planning but she doesn't think she can because she has herpes. I told her that with support and awareness plenty of women have natural births with herpes, she said 'ya who?' I know there's some, has anyone here had a safe natural birth who has the herpes virus?

  • The best thing to do is have her consult with her doctor and have an open and honest conversation about this.  Not all herpes are created equal, I know that in some cases if there's not a flare-up or whatever at the time of birth a natural birth *is*

  • I don't know anyone who has had a vaginal birth with genital herpes (that I know of at least) but I do have a friend who has genital herpes that only ended up with a c-section because she happened to get an outbreak about a week before she had her baby
