Hey there mommies! So I'm kicking around the idea of getting the copper, non hormonal IUD but don't know anyone personally who has had it and can offer advice. I read it can make your periods heavier or more painful and you can spot between them. I have a blood clotting disorder so I can not be on any sort of hormonal birth control unfortunately. The hubby is ready to run out and get a vasectomy, but considering I'm only 25, I not quite ready to totally give up all chances at having a 3rd baby in the future. I know for sure I'm done for quite a while though, and likely will not have any more kids, but theres just something that doesn't sit right with killing ALL chances right this second, you know?

I digress... So for those who have had it or know someone who has had the copper IUD, do you recommend it? What was your experience with having it put in and how were your periods after? Did you have any issues with it?

    Sry i dont have any advice, but am eager to see answers...im in a very similar boat...2u2 at 25, cant be on hormones, not ready for dh to get snipped yet

    I can't offer much info but I had mine put in last week. Having it put in took about 10 min and was only slightly uncomfortable. Be had a little bleeding and spotting since then. My dr didn't seem thrilled about using the non hormonal IUD but I also can't

    As with everyone else here, I'm interested in the responses because I also can't be on hormonal BC (makes me sad - I loved my BCPs) and basically see a copper IUD as my only real option besides condoms after we have #3 since I don't want to nix any possib

    BFP1: DD1 born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
    BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
    BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w4d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence
