We hired a new nanny to come 2 days a week starting in January. DD also goes to an in-home place a few afternoons a week, but on our long, busy days we wanted the convenience of having someone come to the house. I loved the nanny when we interviewed her and I do still think she's great. The problem is she has only been able to work 4 days since we hired her! The first week she missed for vacation. Then she broke her foot, leaving her out if commission for 6 weeks. Then she came back for one day, called this week and has a severe sinus infection so is out all this week. And she has an all day appointment coming up in another week so won't be able to work that day. None of these things are her fault really, but it is killing us to be constantly scrambling around to find childcare. We pay her $15 an hour, so at this point I just feel like we've kind if wasted money on the few days she has been here. Is it awful to fire someone for breaking a foot and being sick? I do like her, but it just seems like, her fault or not, there is always something going on. Would you have a talk with her, or find someone new? Just want to see others opinions!

I probably wouldn't fire her for this, but I would sit down and discuss the position it puts you in to have to rush to find childcare. I'd be pretty ticked too but I'd give her the benefit of the doubt since like you said they aren't her "fault" (howev
Yeah, I feel bad straight out firing her. And I feel really selfish that I'm only thinking about how inconvenient that it is for me, because I know it was obviously inconvenient for her when she broke her foot and being sick too. But I'm in a really in
