Microwave sterilizer

I just had my baby shower this weekend and now I am going through my registry to see what I have left to buy.  I had a microwave steam sterilizer on the registry, but then I read that they were a waste of money.  I also had the medela steam sterilizer bags.  Are they worth it?  Would a dishwasher suffice? Or even a pot of boiling water?  Just trying to cut some costs on things we might not use...

    The microwave sterilizer is a waste of money.  A pot of boiling water is just fine.  You really need to sterilize the first time you use the bottles.

    I did find the medela steam bags to be useful for pump parts and pacifiers.

    I second the pot of boiling water.  You want to be careful about heating anything plastic in the microwave for your little one, BPA free plastic or not.  Plastics leach chemicals at high temperatures so I'd stick with the pot of water for the sa

    I have one and have used it like 5 times. It is huge and takes up space. I need to get rid of it.

    We have the microwave bags but I only used them once. After that I just used the sterilize setting on our dishwasher. I would skip it all if your dishwasher will do it.
