Two Under 2

BFing question...

I just got a BFP and have a five month old. A little bit of a surprise but anyways I had a question for moms with 2U2 that BF. Did getting pregnant while BFing affect your supply at all?

I only took the test because I felt like my supply was tanking a bit (LO was nursing a lot during the day and started getting up at night and was incredibly fussy at the boob. Unusual for her) and when I pumped, I wasn't getting much. I normally have an oversupply but am now lucky to get any to freeze.

Is this normal? Does it get better or worse? And is there anything I can do to help my supply from disappearing? I read that taking fenugreek is a no no while pg but I'm still doing lots of water and oatmeal.

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Re: BFing question...

  • Fenugreek is a no no during pregnancy because it can cause uterine contractions, thus could cause early labor.

From what I've heard from other ladies on thebump, your supply can tank, and then come back up, but it's frustrating. I'm ttc, and I'd

  • I got PG when DS1 was 6 months old and my milk supply was in sad shape a month later. I had been relying on Fenugreek. By the time DS1 was 8 months, I had also developed anemia and my doctor suggested that I stop altogether. It was a very sad decision, bu

  • Progesterone is a supply killer and you need progesterone in pregnancy.  So if you are showing signs of plummeting supply now then it's likely to continue.  You are going to want to supplement with either your freezer stash or formula.

  • I got a BFP on DS's 9mo bday.  My supply definitely tanked and I was exhausted and dropping weight from trying to keep up with both fetus and nursling.  I ended up supplementing with formula until he was 12 months and then switched him to WCM.&n
  • We are 9 weeks pregnant with no2 ---so my DD was turning 5 months when symptoms really kicked in. She was EBF, but my supply dropped without me knowing it (I don't pump--so I could not tell besides her fussiness). I did not understand that I was pg and
