I just can't bring myself to do sleep training, so I was wondering if anyone else was in the same boat. I know my son really needs it (it takes him a while to fall asleep, he is still waking up 5-6 times a night and probably only averaging 9 hours from when he falls asleep until when he wakes up for the day, eating several times in middle of night, etc), but I feel like I just don't "have it in me" to let him CIO. I know he will get so upset and he will cry for at least an hour. I just see it going really badly (he is a pretty needy baby used to getting a ton of one on one attention). I know I can stay next to his crib and keep checking on him, but I feel like that would be so heartbreaking and he will be confused why I'm not picking him up. I can't bear to do it, but I also don't know how I can continue going down this path of waking up constantly every night when I have to work the next day. He is also still in our bed, which makes it necessary for my husband to sleep on the couch which isn't so great for our relationship. I did try CIO for 10 minutes once and there was no sign of him letting up. Any tips or words of advice? Did it go better than expected for anyone? I just don't know what to do
Re: Reluctant to try sleep training.......
My family is in a very different place from you since our LO has been sleeping 11 hrs at night since 3 1/2 months. We never had to do CIO since we sleep trained him from the get go. I am not exactly sure what I would do if I was in your shoes as it sou

I think the pp makes a lot of good points. If you really want to see changes, you need to get your baby out of your bed and your H back in your bed. Slowly start transitioning the baby to his own crib, like pp said, you could start with nap
I felt the exact same way about CIO and sleep training until I got so desperate for sleep that I caved and did it. At eight months old, your baby is probably ready, but you will have to take it slow. You definitely want to work on getting him used to s
I have another vote for moving baby out of your bed into his crib.
Also, sometimes CIO will take more than 10 minutes. I remember the first few days with both girls, it took about 45minutes-1 hour before they fell asleep. We did Ferber with both

Is your baby actually fully waking up 6 to 8 times each night? We also bedshare, and starting around 3 months, my lo would wake and use me as her own
