heart defects.

Anyone else out there having or had a baby with a heart defect? We just found out this week out sweet girl will need openheart surgery immediately following birth. Fortunately, we were a little prepared for there to be something wrong my BIL has a heart defect so it wasn't a total shock when they called in the cardiologist. Now we're in a whirlwind of doctors and extra screening tests, and I'm just wondering if there's anyone else out there in a similar boat.

    I do not have experience, but I just wanted to sent thoughts and prayers. 
    Began TTC #1 in January 2011
    Confirmation and Removal of Endo - March 2012
    +#1 on 4/1/12 - m/c @ ~8w 5d
    +#2 Tx cycle 4 - 5 mg Letrozole + 75iu Follsitim & Ovidrel w/ IUI on 11/13/12 - EDD 7/23/13 
    7 week u/s revealed THREE babies, all with heartbeats.  153bpm, 148bpm, and 136bpm
    9 week u/s revealed loss of Baby B.  A and C are growing on track.  A measuring 9w1d with 172bpm and C measuring 9w0d with 179 bpm.  
    Elective sex determination u/s on 2/8 revealed... boy AND girl!

    I'm sorry you have to experience this. I'm curious as to how you learned of this. Was it at your a/s? I was born with a hole in my heart, which closed before I needed surgery, and my dad had open heart surgery as a child so this is something I'm concerned

    My niece has a small heart defect that they found right after birth. The doctor said they should have seen it on the ultrasound and didn't and apologized for that. While she didn't have to have heart surgery right away she's been monitored closely for her

    We have a special cardio ultrasound scheduled in 3 weeks, due to a high nt score. Our A/S scan looked perfect, but they want to be cautious. The plus side of having a high NT score is that we will have ultrasounds every 4 weeks until birth just as a preca

    My DS will be born with Down Syndrome, and will require heart surgery sometime up until he is 18 months old.  It's scary, but have complete faith in our doctors.

    I'm sorry you have to go through this. It's so hard knowing that your LO will need surgery at such a young age. Lots of T&P to you and your family!
