Nap Routine

Posted on the 03 board too, but looking for any advice

At night we have a really good routine down diaper, eat, swaddle, rock until drowsy but awake, and put down in bassinet. We get anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hour stretches of sleep the time increases as the night goes on. During the day, however, I've just been letting LO fall asleep wherever he is...in his chair, my arms, daddy's arms, etc and then moving him into his bassinet on the top of the pack n play. Also, sometimes my LO will be awake for 3 hour stretches in the morning or afternoon. So, my question is...is it to early to start some type of routine? Should I be "putting him down" for naps ? Or just going with his flow for now. I really stressed about it the first week he was home, and got frustrated if he wouldnt nap after an hour or so of awake time. And then, at my moms advice...just started letting LO dictate his daytime schedule. Nighttime has been great, but I don't want to start bad daytime habits.

You ladies always have great advice and I have learned so much just from lurking. TIA!!

  • Ok I just envy you because your LO ate sleeping so long at night.  Mine sleeps 1-2 hour stretches, but sleeps all day.  She's barely up during the day--maybe 1-2hours max.
