Has anyone started giving their LO cow's milk before 12 months? My LO is bf but I want to wean him. He'll be 1 in a few weeks. I'm wondering if a few weeks makes a difference.
I don't think a few weeks makes a difference. I know a lot of FFers will mix formula and milk to eventually wean off the formula and they usually start before 1. So I think you're fine to go for it.
My pedi told me to wait till one. I inquired about starting a few weeks early, and she said no. I also bf and wanted to wean. You may want to ask your pedi.
With DD my supply was tanking at 11 months, I pump at work and could not keep up, and my pedi was fine with it. She said it was better to mix with cows milk than to switch to formula only to switch again a few weeks later.
DD was formula fed and a month ago we started doing her bottles half and half. Now she is on 100% cow's milk. I thought it would be hard to switch her because she has had a lot of tummy issues in the past but she's done fine.
Re: Cow's milk
The recommendation here is to start slowing adding milk at 9-12 months.
DD has probably had 4-5 oz total. We sometimes give her a bit in her sippy cup, but she doesn't get much out of it.
