Breastfeeding

Won't make it to my goal :-(

My goal with DS2 was to make it to 6 months with EBF (or EP)... but I feel like I'm always a bottle behind!!!   I returned to work part-time (2 days/week)- and my supply at night is practically nothing!

Tonight I used the last of my freezer stash for the night time bottle.  I will have a small bottle for his MOTN feeding... he will be fine throughout the day tomorrow, but tomorrow night will be tight- possibly needing his first formula bottle EVER.

I would've been able to BF longer if it weren't for the fact that DS2 is a massive child and insatiable eater (he was 10lb 5oz at birth and is over 18lbs at 5 months)...

I'm just having such guilt over not reaching my goal of 6 months.  DS2 was 5 months on the 12th.... :-(

I know it's just ONE bottle of formula a day, but it still stings :-(

  • Don't be too hard on yourself, you made it so close! With DD1 I only made it two months before I gave up and my goal was 1 year, but working two jobs and going to school full time made it hard for me. I still feel bad sometimes, especially with BFing goin

  • Another option is to use Ets on feets or human milk 4 human babies. Those are two Facebook donor sites and can offer you the milk you are short on. Free. If you are comfortable using donor they can help you make up what you are short while you work on you

  • Thanks ladies.... I appreciate the support!  It's comforting hearing it from other BF moms as opposed to DH and family being supportive (which is great but they dont understand totally!)

  • I mostly breastfeed, pumping and nursing, but occassionally do a bottle of formula.  You are not any less of a mom for using some formula! You made it through the most important months, do not beat yourself up about it.  You are doing what you c
  • I understand your disappointment. I have to use one bottle of formula/day as well, my supply just won't keep up. I used to get SO STRESSED about it. Like PP said, your LO is still getting ALL the benefits of BM. it's just your LO needs more volume. So, it

  • It's not all or nothing. Keep doing what you're doing and you could end up breastfeeding for many more months, even with a daily bottle of formula. Then you can surpass your goal! I started supplementing at 8 months and now we're finally weaning at 14 mon
