Probably a useless question.

Got a new Dr's appt set for next month. Hopefully this one will be a little more receptive to my requests and concerns, because I am going in with guns blazing! Stick out tongue

If he doesn't do the tests, I just need a referral to an RE and surely he'd do that.

I do have a question, DH wants to go with me to this appt. He wants to get involved with the process a little more, and wants to find out when he is needed for the SA. Is this a good idea, to bring him? He wants to support me in this endeavor mor than anything, and I love that, but he really hasn't done as much research as I have. So, I don't know how much help he will be when trying to convince the doctor to give me the tests I will be asking for. Advice? Anyone else take their DH/SO with them to intial consult?

    Mine went to my first RE appointment. I didn't need a referral though. He scheduled a bunch of tests at our first meeting.

    TTC since 3/2011 Adenomyosis, LPD, hypothyroidism. 
    BFP on 7/20/12 after 4 cycles Clomid + IUI 
    2 large subchorionic hematomas & no heartbeat at 7w6d   
    D&E 8/18/12 Sonohysterography found septum and necrotic tissue.   
    Hysteroscopy to remove both 10/5
    IUI #5-7 50mg Clomid + trigger = BFN  
    IUI #8 Femara + Bravelle + HCG + Progesterone = BFP 3/27/13
    Beta 1 (13dpo) = 169  Beta 2 (17dpo) = 1073  No heartbeat at 9w3d. 
    D & C 5/10/13  Triploidy 69 (paternal inherited)
    IVF #1 with ICSI and PGS 11R 8M 5F 2 biopsied/frozen
    PGS results = 1 with trisomy 13 & 1 good embryo for FET 
    FET #1 EV, estrace, nitro patches.  Cancelled due to thin lining
    FET #1.2 oral estrace, f'ing nitro patches and no delestrogen.  Transfer 12/31. BFN
    PAIF/SAIF welcome
    Surprise BFP on 6/13/14  Our only unmedicated bfp ever.
    Beta #1 339  Beta #2 649 44 hour doubling time

    My H absolutely went with to the first consult with the RE.  Although I do take more of a lead with research, setting things up, etc., I personally consider this to be "our" endeavor, not just mine.

    Mine came to the first, and every cycle monitoring appointment that I have. The first appointment I was so happy to have him there especially, because they did the SA right there and the RE explained to us the different options, plans of action etc. It ma

    I did my basic testing with my OB/GYN and DH didn't come to that "consult," but it was combined with my annual so it kind of would have been weird to have him there.  We have seen 2 REs now and DH came to both of those consults.

    September 2012: Start IF testing

    DH (32): SA is ok, slightly low morph, normal SCSA  Me (32): Slightly low progesterone, hostile CM, carrier for CF, Moderately high NKC, High TNFa, heterozyogous mutated Factor XIII, and +APA

    October 2012-May 2014: 4 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVFs, and 1 failed FETw/donor embryos

    November 2014: IVF w/ICSI #4 Agonist/Antagonist with EPP and Prednisone, Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, and IVIG for immune issues.  Converted to freeze all due to lining issues.  2 blasts frozen on day 6!

    January 2015: FET #2 Cancelled due to lining issues

    April 2015: FET #2.1

    It's nice to have another set of ears at the visit. Even if he doesn't have your background knowledge of IF, he may remember something the doctor says that you missed or be supportive in your requesting an RE appointment.

    I would 100% recommend

    My DH went with me to my initial consult.  He went to my HSG too, although he wasn't allowed in the room during the actual procedure.  He tries to go to as many of my appointments as he can.  I am really bad at relaying information though s

    DH definitely came to first consult, and he's been to every appt. thereafter that he can swing with work. I would definitely have him there! Even if he just sits back and listen, he'll have a good idea of what's to come for you both! Hope it goes well!

    I think you will want him to be there with you! Even if he can't go to follow up appointments, the first appointment is a really good one for him to go to.
