3 y/o bedtime nightmare-help!

We need some serious tips on how to keep our 3 year-old daughter in bed.  She has always had the same night time routine--dinner, bath, story time and bed but lately she will not stay in her room and go to sleep.  She is up until 10-11pm and keeps coming downstairs or in our room saying she's thirsty, hungry, not tired, etc. It's getting really exhausting because we have a six month-old who is difficult to put down so my husband and I literally have no time at night for us to just talk or relax/watch TV, etc.  I didn't know if anyone else had made it through this phase and did anything that worked?

  • Sounds like our nights, but then DS1 has always been weird about sleep. Our routine is for DH to get DS1 ready for bed while I pit the baby to bed. If the baby goes to sleep easily then I take over and finish bathing DS1, read to him and hope for the best

  • That's great advice--my DD is also into the Disney Princess thing so I think we will try that!

  • We locked him in.  Better him stuck in one place then able to roam if there is an emergency anyway.  The first few nights were a lot of screaming.

  • We went through this with DS.  He would get up several times a night, and one of us would usually end up falling asleep in his room.  Once DD was born, this was ridiculous.  First we told him that once he was in bed, he was not allowed t

  • I could have written this post - we're having so many issues with DS - but he's 2, so I'm not sure some of the suggestions here would work for him yet (sticker chart, etc).  We transitioned to a twin bed about a month ago - he did fine for about 3 we

  • DD is a terror to get to sleep.  She's all sweet and cuddly during books but when books are done, the nightmare begins.  I sit with her for a little bit and try to ignore all her games and goofing around.   I usually only talk to her to

  • Sticker charts worked well with our DD as well, she is motivated by stuff like that. Unfortunately DS is not and we have tried any number of things with him. The nights where he skips nap are better for him (though the 6pm meltdown zone can be pretty t
