So we have been in the market for new carseats for our almost 2 year old. We were initially going with the Britax Frontier and going to install it once DS1 turned 2 in a little over a month. However, I then changed my mind about having him face forward. So instead, we bought another Marathon 70 (DS2 needs the next seat up since he is 1/2 inch away from outgrowing his infant carrier).
I just read the manual for the Marathon and it looks like you need at least 1 inch of clearance to use it rear facing. I measured DS1 and I think he has about 2 inches of space (DS1 is 36 inches tall) although it's hard to get a good measurement since the seat has this head rest thing that prevents you from getting a measurement against a flat surface. So I am thinking - if I measured correctly - the Marathon may only last us a few months more at most rear facing and I wanted to keep DS1 rear facing until 3 (if not longer). SO my Q is - if you had this seat, how tall were your LO's when they outgrew this seat?
Also, are there any other carseats out there that are as safe as the Britax but that will allow my DS1 to sit rear facing longer? And if the seats are taller does that mean I will have to move my seat up even farther to accomodate it? We're already short on legroom in the front with the Marathon!
Re: Could LO have outgrown Marathon 70?!?!
Opps, replied too soon. The tallest seats for RFing are the Diono Radian (if you get the R120 instead of the RXT it will RF slightly longer) or the Graco Headwise/Size4Me.

Thanks everyone! Price is not an obstacle for us so I'd love suggestions for any carseat that will rear face for a longer period of time due to DS1 being tall no matter the pricetag.

Diono sells an angle adjuster that can be used when the seat is RF for older child. It
