Funeral

I really don't know what to do here. My MIL passed away and I don't know if its appropriate to take DS to the viewing/funeral. DS is 4.5 mo. Its going to be hard finding someone to watch him bc most friends and family will be there. I didnt think it was a good idea to bring him but DH said its fine. Thoughts please :/

  • So sorry for your loss. It is absolutely appropriate. I took my then 8 week old DD to my mother's memorial service. No one batted an eye.

  • I took DD to a funeral when she was 8 months and she did fine.  I just took DS to a funeral when he was 4.5 months and he slept the whole time.  I think everyone will understand that the people who would normally watch DS are already there. &nbs

  • I don't think you should worry. I took DD to one when she was 8 weeks and there were quite a few infants there.

  • I took my 2 month old to 3 funerals Sad  Honestly I felt awkward because everyone wanted to see the baby, but I think she helped bring some happiness to the sadness.
