I am 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby. It's a GIRL! When I found out I was pregnant, I downloaded my pregnancy app and you know how they love to send you videos. I never been a fan of needles and watching the vid on epidorals really sealed the deal that I could not bare to have that needle put in my back. So I decided on a natural drug free birth but at a hospital.
Next thing you know, I watch Ricki Lake's "Business of Being Born" and I was intrigued by waterbirthing. Sign me up. Got all excited to be shot down because the only hospital to do the waterbirthing in my area did not take my insurance. I felt so defeated but I would not give up on what I wanted.
I did some research and asked a bunch of questions and was guided to go to Medicaid. I didn't think I would be approved because I have insurance and I thought they would say I made too much money. In the end, I have been approved and my midwife has decided she will take me on as her new patient (they usually stop taking patients at 20-24 weeks). So I am on my way to having my waterbirth at a hospital. I am super excited and just praying that everything goes well.
