My dd has breast milk jaundice. We just went back in to check her levels - they have been ever so slowly dropping. They started at 15.1 dropped to 14.9 then 14.3. Now 2 weeks later after the last check they are 14.4. Dr isn't worried it went back up 0.1 but that doesn't sound right to me. I've gone to different doctors within the group each time just to get differing opinions and none seem worried. They have mentioned me pumping for 48 hours and giving her formula during that time - they said it would clear it up right away. I have been adamant on not giving her formula but now I'm wondering if I should just to get rid of it. I'm nervous why it's taking so long to go down and worried maybe there is an underlying problem. Has anyone ever had this with their LO's? DD is putting on weight - she's already almost 11 lbs and was born at 8.5 so it's definitely not that she isn't getting enough bm!

Re: Jaundice at almost 6 weeks old
My understanding i
My LO had jaundice at first, but it went away. Google says "breastmilk jaundice" is caused by something in the breastmilk that blocks the liver from breaking down the proteins like it needs to. So, not having breastmilk for a few days
Breastmilk jaundice isn't harmful so if you don't want to give formula, don't. My LO is still a bit yellow in the face but her pedi isn't worried so I'm not supplementing. I had to with DD1 since she was preterm and had very high bili levels so it's no
