I know that nowadays pediatricians and most others strongly urge parents to not have bumpers, stuffed animals, or thick blankets in a crib with their baby while they are sleeping. I also have heard of many people that use bumpers and have been since their baby was an infant and not having any problem with them.
I understand the reasoning behind not having bumpers in cribs, stuffed animals, or thick blankets but has anyone been just fine with one or all of the above with their kids? Do you think having a bumper in the crib is easier in a way so the baby doesn't bump their heads or get their foot or hands caught as much? Let me know your thoughts.
I'm thinking of trying out our bumper for my daughter. I know I have read that SIDS significantly decreases after 6 months of age.

Another thing to think about with this.. a lot of babies that are climbers (probably still have some time before this is a concern) will use the bumper to leverage up and over the top of the crib...

We have always had the bumpers in for both our boys in the crib.
DS1 was in the crib until he was 19 months old and never once tried to use them to climb out or anything like that.
DS2 never really moved much as a swaddled newborn, so bum
