My mom?s dog is sick and I am really bummed. Not only was this a puppy I helped pick out and train when I still leaved at home, but she is DD?s favorite of our parent?s dogs and the first one that she always mentions that she wants to play with.
My mom is supposed to hear today if the dog has kidney failure or diabetes, if the dog?s kidneys are failing my mom has already decided to put the dog down. Now I?m struggling with what to tell DD, not because I am worried DD is going to be scarred, but because I know that DD is going to mention it every time we go to my mom?s for a month (or more) and I feel like every time I hear here proudly proclaiming that she remembers what happened to Audrey I going to feel bummed all over again. (How selfish is that?)
I?m thinking I?m going to tell DD that grandma took Audrey to go play with her other puppy friends far way. Although I?m tearing up just thinking that. (grr, that is AF?s fault.) Of course that may not be the right way to go, because I know mom is planning on cremating the dog and putting her on the shelf next to the cremains of our last dog, and mom doesn?t have the self control not to refer to the tin on the bookshelf by the dog?s name. I?ll let my mom field that question.
Re: My mom?s dog is sick :(
I'm sorry you might be losing a friend soon.
With my FIL and grandfather we just told B that they died and weren't with us anymore. My grandfather wasn't a regular part of his life, but he didn't ask too many questions about it.
