Any experience with kids attending 1/2 time activities?

BD mentioned in passing that he wanted to enroll DS in activies during his EOWE time.  Which would be mostly likely two Saturdays a month.  Which I would be surprised if he did because all he does is complain that he doesn't have money due to child support.

I assume most organized sports are played usually every week.  So if he did enroll DS he would only be there 50% of the time.  Has anyone else done this?  How did it work out?  I am just so frustrated that it seems my son will not be able to do normal stuff because of the distance and visitation schedule.  Every activity I can sign him up for is weekly so no matter what he will miss.

  • For little kids like your DS I think it's totally fine. Once he is in elementary school, he will want to play with his friends in whichever town he lives...and at that point one of you is going to have to travel for him.

  • How far apart are you guys?
  • Or you, your BF, BD, and GF can all get some theropy and learn how to put your DS first. Usually I would say only you and BD but I don't think he would agree to that. All of the adults in this boys life and you can't even work out a tee ball schedule?!

  • Hopefully at some point you and your ex will be able to work together to find programs that DS can be a part of that are convenient for everyone.  He's only 3 now, so if he misses a game or two or three, it's not a big deal.

  • If you want BD to work with you then you will have to work with him. Maybe he wants to coach? I know my DH wants to coach SD in soccer one day. Both of you should make an effort to get DS there no matter whose time it is.

  • DS is 8. He did soccer at 4, has done taekwondo from 6-8, and swam on a team last summer (at age 7). It's super unusual for a kid to make every single practice/game. The coaches don't expect it.

Certainly, the more the kids attend, the more

  • Are you that far away that you can't sign him up for one sport and each take him on your respective weekends? Someone else asked this and I didn't see an answer.

As your ds gets older, if he is good at a sport and wants to play for his school, it

  • I can't speculate what BD will or will not do, but as I recall, I do think you are too far apart to take DS on respective weekends.  We enrolled DS in gymnastics, and we live near each other, so he does go every weekend, but with alternating paren
