I was wondering what everyone's nursing routines are at night. My DD who is 4 1/2 weeks old is going 23.5 hours between feedings at nightI EBF and I'm wondering if how she eats might have to do with why those stretches haven't started to extend much. I must say how jealous I am hearing about some people's LOs who are sleeping 56 hour stretches, but I'm not stressing over that too much, I know every baby is different, but I am curious about how people handle the nighttime feedings. So whenever DD eats she always falls asleep at the breast. It really never happens that she decides she's done and unlatches herself, she just falls asleep and when I think it's been long enough I stop trying to wake her up and just unlatch her and burp her. During the day she will sometimes wake up at that point and then I will offer the other breast. At night I will change her diaper first, then she will eat for maybe 15 minutes and then I will stop trying to wake her and just unlatch her and try to burp her and then I will hold her upright for a bit she has some reflux issues and then put her down to sleep. I guess my
question is should I try harder to wake her so that I can offer the other side and have her eat more? Should I change her diaper after the first side to wake her up so she eats more and then possibly sleeps longer? I started changing her diaper before she eats because when she was having trouble getting back to sleep after nighttime feedings would fall asleep at the breast but then whenever I tried to change her diaper and put her down she would be wide awake. What do you ladies do for nighttime feedings when your baby falls asleep do you let them sleep or wake them to eat more and do you think it affects how long your LO sleeps? Sorry for the longwinded post, I really thought I would have BFing figured out by now!
Re: BFing at night what is your routine?
We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013. We love her to pieces.
We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011. She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.
It depends...DS usually sleeps from 10:30/11-3:30/4. Then he nurses on and off from 4ish-7ish. We get up for the day at 7 when DD wakes up. Last night, however, he woke up at 1:00 and nursed on and off until 5. Then, slept until 7. He sleeps in the roc
Now that I bed share the diaper change is first then I feed in bed
2-3 hrs here too. That's pretty normal for a bf baby. I change diaper and then feed because once he's back asleep, I am too! Neither of my kids have nursed well in bed, so I just get up and move to the couch for feedings, which means
DD will usually nurse for the last time around 9-10:30 pm, then sleep for 6-7 hours. I change her, nurse her, and put her back down. I can usually get another 2-3 hours of sleep out of her then.
To answer your question, when she falls asleep I l

Once baby falls asleep, I let baby sleep. At first they enter a light sleep, at which point they'd wake up if they were still hungry. In any matter, they will enter the light sleep stage frequently, and wake to eat if hungry. However, if your baby isn'
