  It's probably dried blood. I would still put the rubbing acohol on it for a few days to dry it up.

  My baby girls fell off right at two weeks. Hers was that sorta scabby thing for maybe two days. Now though it's sort or draining clear liquid stuff

  It's normal. It may still be part of the base of the stump and it's normal for it to ooze stuff or bleed. Keep it dry and wipe it with an alcohol wipe if it starts oozing/bleeding and it should come off in the next week, then LO will have a normal belly b

  I'm surprised to hear everyone recommending alcohol to clean the stump. I work at a Magnet hospital and they did research and found the use of alcohol on the umbilical stump in newborns actually causes them to have a blood alcohol level- it is strongly di

  We've also been told this and had no problems with DS1... We just let it be.
