Am I just not "getting" staging? This is my house. It's actually just my floorplan that's for sale down the street. I don't know how much of this is personal preference and actual decor vs. plain staging. In any event, it makes me twitchy... Is this done well? Like, if you walked in, would you feel overwhelmed by clutter or would you appreciate the decor even if it's not your style?

Did you stage your home?
Re: For those who just sold or are for sale
Like, when we were looking for rentals I would not consider photos of homes that had furniture or belongings in them. I need to see the clean slate.
We had NOTHING on the counters or tables except flowers. Nothing on dressers and no personal photos. It sold in 19 days in a tough market at
I'm also pretty good at looking beyond other people's "stuff", however, if I walked into that house I would side eye these people's poor taste in decor. But it wouldn't stop me from buying their house.
If I were you I would eliminate as much of
Too. Much. Crap.

We took down all personal pictures, except a few baby ones of the boys. I took down all other pictures and put white plates, mirrors, and chalkboards.
The counter tops should have nothing
That's awful. I can look beyond some stuff, but I would always be thinking about all of that crap.
I don't mind some stuff, but I don't want to be able to imagine the specific people who lived there.
One more thing:
When I see pictures like that, I can't help but wonder, if they couldn't be bothered to clean up before taking pictures (or a showing), I wonder how much effort they've put into maintaining their home in general...
