XP Lactose sensitivity

My daughter is 3 weeks old and at 2 weeks developed severe flatulence, gas pains, minor spit up, and loose stools. Today the WIC nutritionist suggested lactose sensitivity and my doctor prescribed Similac Soy Isomil in the sterile liquid. Does anyone have experience with lactose sensitivity, this formula, or any soy formula? How long does it take to see a difference after the switch?

I am just desperate to get her relief. She is in a lot of pain and cries and cries until she can pass gas. I burp her for hours because that motion is the only thing that calms her even a bit. Lactose intolerance runs in my family but I still feel unsure that this is her issue. Do these symptoms sound accurate? I have not spoken to my pediatrician directly and will be calling her. She just took the nutritionists word and prescribed the formula. I just want some reassurance or positive experiences! She seems to have a little less gas already after a couple of feedings but maybe I am just trying to believe that. Cross your fingers for her!!

Re: XP Lactose sensitivity

  • My whole family has lactose sensitivity. As an infant, I used Isomil. Dd used Similac Sensitive powder. It worked great for her. It was very bubbly so we had to use gas drops in it. She still has to drink lactose free milk.

    Good luck!
