I got a call today from the hospital saying there would be a specialist available to do a more "in depth" ultrasound (to check for brain, spine health, etc.)for women 35 or older and they would schedule me if I was interested. I did go ahead and change my appointment from the regular U/S to the in depth one. I will be 35 in April and I am 19 weeks. This will be my first child. For some reason that call has made me feel kind of down all day. I realize that there are certain things they need to check for, but I guess I'm not happy about being treated differently because I'm not 20. I don't like feeling like I'm some kind of circus freak for not having a baby in my 20's I guess. I'm probably being too sensitive but this is the way I'm feeling today.

Some OBs treat the age thing like it's the biggest deal. I'm 38 and the only extras I had performed was the genetic counseling and the MaterniT21 test instead of the quad screen/amnio/CVS...

Meh. I was directed towards getting NT's and fetal echo's during both of my pregnancies and asked if I wanted amnios, I didn't, but I understood why and those were the only instances of being treated any differently. Bugged me a bit but I got over it.<

TTC 10/11. IUI 2/12. BFP 3/8/12. 4/26/12 missed mc. RE consult 5/17/12. IVF #1 ER 7/13/12 53R, 41M ICSIed, 32F, 8 5d, 6 6d blasts - all PGD/frozen. PGD results 1 normal M and 1 normal F, 1 maybe M. FET 9/6, transferred 1 F embie. Beta 9/15 BFN. FET#2 planned for 11/2012 put off until 2013. Surprise BFP 11/21/12!! My son was born on 7/24/13!
I wouldn't sweat it- I am 37 and my midwife hasn't said anything about my age... Infact- i declined all the extra tests, i have had one ultrasound and they still think I am a good candidate for a home birth- I think if age was really a big issue they w
