Being too sensitive maybe?

I got a call today from the hospital saying there would be a specialist available to do a more "in depth" ultrasound (to check for brain, spine health, etc.)for women 35 or older and they would schedule me if I was interested. I did go ahead and change my appointment from the regular U/S to the in depth one. I will be 35 in April and I am 19 weeks. This will be my first child. For some reason that call has made me feel kind of down all day. I realize that there are certain things they need to check for, but I guess I'm not happy about being treated differently because I'm not 20. I don't like feeling like I'm some kind of circus freak for not having a baby in my 20's I guess. I'm probably being too sensitive but this is the way I'm feeling today.

Eh, aside from the specialist doing the ultrasound and being offered the genetic testing, my OB treats me just like any other patient, and I'm now 39 years old. Don't sweat the small stuff, sister.

Some OBs treat the age thing like it's the biggest deal. I'm 38 and the only extras I had performed was the genetic counseling and the MaterniT21 test instead of the quad screen/amnio/CVS...

My OB sends me to an MFM for the anatomy scan. It's no big deal and i like the reassurance of getting a little more attention paid to my little one. Just think of it as VIP treatment.

Meh. I was directed towards getting NT's and fetal echo's during both of my pregnancies and asked if I wanted amnios, I didn't, but I understood why and those were the only instances of being treated any differently. Bugged me a bit but I got over it.<

Try not to worry. I'm 40 and probably healthier then a bunch of 20 yr olds. The only thing I had done differently was the maternit21 test. Otherwise, I have been treated the same.
