Trouble TTC

Dh's SA results

I got the print off for Dh's Sa results. I've tried to copy it basically as it was listed.

Appearance - White                                      Normal - White/grey

Count - 175,000/ml                                        60 - 150

Viscosity - 4+                                               2+ - 3+

Motility - 9                                                   60 - 100

       14% viable

Normal Morphology - 22                                 70 - 100

PH - 9.0                                                        7.0 - 8.3

Volume - 2.8                                                 1.5 -5.0

I don't understand the 14% viable. Does that mean that we would need 14% on the motility or that of the 9 percent that were moving 14% were good? Any advice about these numbers, how to improve them etc.? TIA for looking over it for me.

I also did my first bloodwork today. I wanna take a minute to thank the ladies for the water advice since it worked. She only had to stick me one time and it literally only took like a minute or two to fill up the 4 large yellow cap vials and 3 smaller purple capped vials. I feel a wee bit tired/weak but I didn't get dizzy or faint.

They've made an appointment for DH to go to a local Urologist at the first of next month. I go back in for my cd3 bloodwork in about 8-11 days assuming this cycle is regular and then we'll go in together on the second of April to go over all the results at once with the dr. Dh is already freaking out a little bit. He's searching the internet now and reading about all the causes and treatments of low morph and low motility. Every few minutes, I hear aww shitte. He's totally psyching himself out. :(

Re: Dh's SA results

  • Whoa that's a great count. And the morph and motility are written differently than I'm used to seeing. I'm sure the oh so wise Katib77 will chime in with some help understanding this.

Be sure to ask the doc about supplements for your DH. Most of

  • Forgive me; but are you saying the count is 175 million per milliliter (and you just forgot the comma and other three zeros) or are you saying it's only 175 thousand per milliliter?  Because clearly one is really good and the other

  • Sorry, yeah the count is in the millions. I forgot to add the units that were on the page.

Yes, our lab is here in the states. It's actually located inside our local hospital here in Tn. The way the report is listed is partially why I needed a li

  • Well, now knowing the count is 175 mil/ml that is a great count!!  And in 2.8ml volume that mean he had 495 million sperm in the sample.  That's HUGE.

However 9% motility is low, 9% of 495 million sperm is still 99 million swimmi

  • No problem!  He will go over medical history and then have a physical exam (think of the turn your head and cough stance).  Yes, a doc has your hands and face a little up in your junk but that is his job and thousands of men go through this.
