Absolutely amazing! I had a rough pregnancy and was at the hospital about 4 times prior to giving birth, the staff and Doctors are amazing. I was a wonderful experience.
Although I did not use Winthrop Hospital for delivery (we're not pregnant, yet), I did have to go to their emergency room twice for blood clot issues. They were the most professional and responsive hospital I've ever been to. My ObGYN and High Risk doctor work through Winthrop Hospital and I would not want to work with any other hospital after the great experience I had there last time.
I'm even a 1 minute ride from St. Catherine's and I wouldn't walk in that place if you paid me.

May 2013 TTC begins!
I was overdue and sent to be induced after they saw I was contracting during a doctor's appt. I was really worried about being forced into a C-section once I was "on the clock" with the induction.
I'm happy to say I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth. I absolutely loved all my nurses and the resident that delivered my daughter was awesome (as was the anesthesiologist! loved my epi... and I had intended on a natural birth). I was able to have a room to myself for recovery, even though it was a double room.
The food was good (hehe) and I attended the breastfeeding meeting with a lactation consultant. She really helped teach me how to position my daughter better.
I only have one baby so nothing else to compare it to, but it was a great experience for me.
I had a poor experience with second birth first was at south Nassau so maybe I was just comparing the two.... My day nurse blew too so I had a poor experience it was also due to shared rooms bc I was a vag birth and placed wth a csection pt so of you know they come in all hours of night to check on section patients and kept waking my and my son up all night high anxiety... All experiences are different my friends loved it there congrats and feel good
I just delivered at Winthrop at the beginning of this month. I was very unhappy with the resident doctor (I wanted my scheduled c-section and she was pushing me labor naturally due to my water breaking early; she was not listening to me at all). However, the nurses both in the recovery room and afterwards were fabulous! I honestly could not have asked for a better experience post-Op.
I delivered there in November, they failed to catch my postpartum preeclampsia until it was full blown and I spent a week there being treated (I asked continuously if my swelling was pre-e and kept getting brushed off).I caught Mrsa, and only now 3 months later I am finally better after having surgery a month afterwards for an abcess from mastitis a side effect of the Mrsa infection. I had to switch to LIJ hosp system for proper treatment. I will not be delivering my next child at Winthrop. All of my problems were preventable.
Had a terrible experience, so much so I don't even want to go into detail of one had after the next when it came time to be admitted. I strongly do not recommend this hospital.
