  You drink the glucose drink. Wait an hour and then they draw your blood. 
  
  If you fail the one hour, then you take the three hour. Same drill except you have three blood draws. 

  If you fail both you have GD and they give you furth

  Pretty much what Prim said. It's to find out if you have gestational diabetes. You WANT to know. Follow the doctor's instructions carefully for the test(s). I recommend using a straw to drink the stuff. It makes it more tolerable.

  Did mine this morning.  They told me not to fast, but to have no sugar or carbs before the test.  I suppose some places do it differently.  Drink some questionable tasting stuff then wait an hour before the blood draw.  I recommend eat
