Babies: 6 - 9 Months

I need some reassurance

I'm on vacation at my sisters house with both DD's, my DH wasn't able to come. DD2 who is almost 7 months has been a mess since we got here. She is usually a decent nap taker, but won't nap here. Also she hasn't ever been the best over night sleeper, but here has been awful! She is EBF, and refuses to sleep in a pack and play, so she has been sleeping in bed with me. At home I can feed her and put her to bed awake and she falls asleep on her own, here I have to nurse her to sleep and sneak out. I have tried letting her cry but it hasnt done anything. I feel like she wants to nurse all night. I always try the binky first and it sometimes helps. My concern is that after a week of this she is going to want to sleep with me at home too.

Could it just be that we are away from home, new place? I feel like we have taken a huge step backwards since we have been here.

Re: I need some reassurance

  • It is probably the anxiety of being in a new place.  She might keep doing it when you get home but you just need to restart your sleep training, whatever that was.  The book I have even says that you often have to redo the sleep training after a

  • We took our baby halfway across the country to meet her family at for months. I tried to keep her routine as normal as possible, but with all the new surroundings, visitors and things to do it just wasn't possible.
We let her sleep with us, nursed

  • She is probably just excited/anxious about the new schedule, place, and people. LO took 1 nap a day when we were on vacation. It was insane.

It did take about a week to get back to his usual routine.

    Good luck and have fun&nbsp

  • We just got back from a trip to my SILs and we went thru the same exact thing with a time change and daylight savings thrown into the mix. We ended up putting LO in bed with us because she woke up every 2 hrs I usually rocked her back to sleep and tried
  • I had family come for Christmas when LO was 5months and OMG she was a whole different baby. I think the excitement of a house full made it hard for her to calm down for naps & night sleep. However, as soon as they left she went back to her great habit

  • Whenever we go to another house and spend the night, DD gets really fussy and won't take her naps. It's probably just that factor.

  • Comfort her now and you might have to re train her for a day when you get back. DD was like this when we moved 2 weeks ago but once she got use to our new house she was back to normal.
  • I went through this with DS last time we went to my parents' house. The first day back at home was rough b/c he was so tired, but after that he went right back to his old schedule without problems. It's actually kind of strange...I have to rock him
