Reflux problems

My 3 month old has had a spit up problem since he was born and had a really hard time gaining weght (causing me to stop nursing and use formula.) His pediatrician has him on renitidine and its helped a little but he seems to still be having spit up problems and he cries constantly like he's in pain. He's gaining weight okay now. Anyone else have this issue?

  • My LO was diagnosed with reflux at 5 weeks and was put on Zantac. He is now a little over 18 weeks and has been switched to Prevacid. Zantac is weight sensitive so the dose got too big and he hated it so we never got him to take a full dose. His symptoms

  • I'd suggest different meds. Prevacid seemed to work best for DD1 who had reflux far worse than DD2. We also tried Zantac and Prilosec. Like pp said, Zantac is very weight sensitive.

  • Rentidine is the generic form of Zantac. Our LO has been on it for a month, but we did have to increase the dosage and switch formula (to Enfamil Gentlease) before we saw a change. When he spits up now, it's no big deal, but before it was a crazy cryfest
