Fever-Upper Respiratory Infection

I took my 8 month old to the ER on Sat. because he was shaking and had a fever. They diagnosis him with an Upper Respiratory Infection. When I call his pediatrician this morning to make an appointment they said I should have called the after-hours on call doctor and since I didn't do that they can drop him from the clinic and cut off his medicaid. I never heard this before. When he was shaking I just immediately got scared and took him, to the ER. Has anyone heard of losing services for taking child to ER.

  • It sounds like something they would do if you habitually do it. I would not worry too much, just handle it like an adult, and ask if you can get clarification as to what warrants a call to the doc vs a visit to the ER. For example, ask what temperature of
