Moms-to-be, how much water are you drinking?

I am TERRIBLE when it comes to drinking water.  I'm a huge iced tea fan so I'm trying hard to drink more water.  I'm lucky if I get a regular bottle of water down a day.  How much are you drinking?  I really need to get better at drinking water pretty much all the time.

  • I usually drink mostly water anyway.  I've noticed I feel better at night if I've had a lot of water throughout the day.  Try putting some lemon in it - it's really nice!

  • I was really good about drinking water.  I put those mixes in them.  But then my baby didn't seem to like the taste of those so I really slacked on the water.  When I went to L&D on Thanksgiving she kept stressing that I should be drinking 8-10 glasses especially with my IBS.  So I"m making an effort but I usually can't manage more than 6 or 7 a day.
  • Not enough, that's for sure! I'm a horrible water drinker. Over the summer months I would put fresh peach slices or watermelon slices in my water, which helped flavor it. Maybe try some fresh pineapple?

I usually try to talk myself into drinking one or two glasses of water, and treat myself to a glass of juice or something different. At least then there's a purpose to it!

On a lighter note, my baby LOVES iced tea! He goes nuts within five minutes of me drinking it. My stomach looks like a kickboxing session.

  • I have at least six glasses a day. I have been wanting more water lately in the evening. I suggest buying a water bottle that holds at least 24 ounces. Then at least you will have that. I always start the day with a big glass of water to take my prenatals too.
  • I have water with me constantly throughout the day.  I agree that a reusable water bottle might be a good idea.

  • I drink alot of water.  I drink close to the 8-10 a day I'm supposed to get.  I drink 2-3 in the morning when I get up (which probably means I should be drinking more) 3-4 through out the day, and another 3-4 with and after dinner.

I like my water really cold - we have a Brita in the fridge.  When I was at my dad's over Thanksgiving I didn't drink enough water because the pitcher in the fridge was never in there and full long enough for it to get cold enough for me and I thought it tasted funky.

  • not nearly enoughEmbarrassed I try to get it in by drinking a full glass/cup when I do want just a sip and at least 2 with each meal. If I feel like I'm not getting enough, I try to get something that I like to drink that's nutritious and that I enjoy as a snack during the day - almond milk, chocolate lowfat soy, orange juice. I still don't get nearly enough, though.
  • Lesli, I was terrible at drinking water, too. During my pregnancy was the best I was at drinking water. I forced myself to carry around the bottled waters and I wouldn't go home from work until I had finished 2. Since I'm not a water fan, I bought those crystal light packets and put them into my water. That was the only way I could drink it. I guess I needed some sort of flavor to get it down. I know that I wasn't drinking as much as I should've been, but I had no problems throughout my pregnancy and passed all of the tests the first time around. I also drank 1 can of soda per day, for the most part.
  • I find that I do better when it is really cold water. We have an ice machine at work so I have a glass of ice adn then I take that to the water cooler so I have a cup of ice water on my desk all day and I drink from it often. I probably get about 6 glasses in at work just that way then I drink another few in the evening.

  • I had the same problem.  I HATE drinking water, especially when you have to go to the bathroom so much as it is during pregnancy.  I drank only a couple glasses a day, and when they checked me at the doctor ( I guess from the urine test), they would always tell me that it looks like I was drinking enough water, so I didn't stress about it.
  • I've been drinking more since I am trying to stay away from soda almost completely (i usually drink diet but am trying to stay away from caffeine and artificial sweetners and all the claories in regular).  I probably drink like 7 or 8 glasses on a normal day.  Sometimes I barely get two in and sometimes I drink a lot more.  I try to get a lot in at work but sometimes I get so busy that I almost forget to eat lunch.
  • 67.6 oz.  :)

I crave soda all day long - Sprite and Rootbeer! and I indulge, helps with the m/s- but when it hits about 6 pm, I would DIE for nice ice cold water.  Between dinner and bed, I find myself downing 2 of the big wawa spring waters (as one is in my hand lol - 33.8 oz each) which of course backfires, because then I have to pee all night long!  LOL.  But the nice cold water is so nice right then, it's worth it.

  • About 3 glasses of water but I also drink about 2 quarts of watered down fruit juice a day.
