XP from Toddler board "Don't Treat Ear Infections "

I saw this.... I don't agree with this. Can't you get permanent scarring and hearing loss if ear infections aren?t treated???

    My understanding is the AAP has changed it's recommendation and is leaning towards not treating ear infections with antibiotics. I read they were being over treated. The older girl I nanny was diagnosed with a light infection and given antibiitics. I w

    What I don't understand (because I'm not a doctor) is how they know the difference between a bacterial and viral infection.  I'm sure there is a way (I hope?) but I don't know how.

    What I think people fail to understand is that treating a virul infection with an antibiotic does absolutely nothing to help.  Antibiotics are only effective and helpful if the illness is bacterial.  Something like 90% of ear infections are v
