helmet suggestions?

We bought one of the balance bikes for A. We haven't unpacked it yet because I want to get a helmet for him. He is only so-so with wearing hats and sunglasses. So I don't want him to associate riding the bike without a helmet sometimes. Any suggestions for good helmets? He has a fairly large dome....I haven't ridden a bike that wasn't stationary since I was in middle school so I've never bought a bike helmet before. How do they determine sizes?

Re: helmet suggestions?

  • I agree with taking LO to a bike shop. That's what we did. I wanted to make sure that his was protected the right way and it ended up costing notich more than a Target/Walmart ones.

  • We have a nutcase too. Little nutty I think it's called in the toddler size. Oliver loves his.
  • A bike shop is a great idea.  We have been looking for a helmet for a while, and I actually just got him one last week at Toys R Us.  They had the largest variety of little kids' helmets I'd come across.  We got a Bell and J loves it, but I
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.

Another mom's group I'm on posted this link.  It has a few tips for fitting a helmet.
