Nothing like an opinionated MIL

So I have vented before about my SO's mother and how crazy she is. This was all before the twins were even born and now the real opinions start. I will note that we do get along great and I can't imagine being on her bad side.

She refuses to feed the babies the room temp formula we have. When we go for visits we bring the premade formula and that's how we give it. The babies like it and its fine not warm. We have never warmed formula before but she insists that they will only eat it warm.

She will not wake a baby to feed him once the other baby is awake to eat. This is how we stay on schedule otherwise we would never sleep or get anything done. Because of her the babies were an hour apart on their schedule and it took me a full day to get them back to the same schedule.

In her opinion we need to only use warm wipes at all times. The babies are fine with the cold wipes, it doesn't upset them. She acts like I'm the worst mother for wiping with cold wipes.

She constantly says to put rice in the babies bottles to get them to sleep longer: NO. If I find out she does this I will hurt her.

Everywhere in my house is "too drafty" and babies shouldn't be there. Again, they are fine and warm. She hates them laying on their play mat because its on the floor. Ugh.

I could go on and on. This was all from one visit the other day. Holy opinions! At least I was warned well in advance of how she is, and I can't even imagine being her oldest sons girlfriend because his mother hates her and the opinions she deals with are way worse.

  • That's tough!  On the formula issue, I just remind myself that during their child rearing days, things had to be heated as they weren't as safe at room temp as they are today. Also doctors back then recommended rice cereal in the bottle at night.&

  • My mother keeps questioning the way we do things and it drives is crazy. But then again, she does that with eveything in our lives. It bothers me the most when she doesn't listen to us when we explain that preemies have different needs or that we're foll
