RCS hospital stay

I'm hoping to only have to stay in the hospital for 2 nights after my RCS in June.  I had to stay for 3 nights with my first, but part of that was because I was in over the weekend and we had to take a safetly class before we could get released.  Has anyone stayed for only 2 nights after their surgery? Did it impact your recovery? (I recovered amazingly from my first)

Re: RCS hospital stay

  • I was released after just 2 nights almost 2 weeks ago. I went in Monday morning and they released me Wednesday just before noon. So far my recovery has been great and I have a 21 month old at home too, but I also have MH here for another 2 weeks, so he'

  • I asked my dr to be released after 2 nights. He was fine with it because I had recovered well. It was my first child but I don't see why you couldn't leave "early". I don't think it impacted my recovery at all:

  • As long as you are walking and both you and baby are ''dismissed'' then 2 days is plenty enough time to be in a hospital. Scheduled CS's are generally better to recover on as opposed to an emergency CS, if that's of any help.

"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
  • I'm hoping they'll let me out after 3 nights. I'm pretty sure that's what they did with DD2. I had her on a Friday morning and went home on Monday morning.

I had a spinal with DD2. She was born around 7:30am. The spinal was removed within a coupl

  • I could have easily left after 2 nights.  My first c-section I stayed 2 nights and felt great.  This time, my OB fixed my scar and did a special closing technique to help it heal cosmetically and she used a permanent stitch that did not dissolve

  • With DD1 I stayed 3 full days (had her Monday night, left Friday at noon)

With DD2 I stayed 2 days (had her Tuesday morning, left Thursday at noon)

With DD3 I am having her Monday morning and hope to be out on Wednesday. I heal better at ho

  • I had an emergency C-section with DD 4 years ago and they kept me 44 hours after her birth. My Mom was sooo mad (she had me 26 years ago and back then, it was 7 days). The nurse and OB said I was doing good, was up walking, was urinating with no proble

  • I only stayed two nights with my second one.  My advice - take the extra day!  When you're coming home to a toddler and a newborn, it's a whole different level of recovery.

  • I was stuck there for 4 nights, but because of HBP issues.

With my first (unscheduled c/s) it was 4 nights at well, 5 nights total since I was there the whole day (induced in the AM) and night before I ended up with my c/s.

  • I stayed 1 night which was about 30hrs after birth. I healed fine. The OB had no issuese letting me go home but the pedi gave me a hard time about discharging the baby.

  • I was discharged 23 hours after my c-section. Our LO had been rushed to the NICU at a hospital in another town.

I had a wonderful recovery...never missed a beat. Only needed pain meds for one day after my release.

  • I was released after 2 days with my first, but because DS was jaundice he had to stay, so I stayed with him a third day.  Had him on Wednesday afternoon and was home Saturday evening.

  • I stayed for two nights with my RCS and it was basically fine.  I had REALLY bad back pain for a day four days after surgery, but I think it was because I was using my back muscles to compensate for my abs and I had only been taking tylenol and ibupr
