C-sections

Your planned c-section experience

I'm sure there's a post like this somewhere, but I went through 2 pages and couldn't find anything, so I'll repost:

We have a RCS scheduled for next Wednesday. I had hoped for a VBAC and will continue to hope labor starts on its own before then, but with the surgery only 5 days away, I'm trying to get myself mentally prepared. My first c-section was an emergency under general anesthesia, so I have NO idea what to expect. I don't even know how long it'll all take. When I woke up, my LO was in the nursery and I didn't see her for another 2 hours.

So please, share your experiences so I know what I'm walking into! All I know is to not eat after midnight and show up 2 hours early to get an IV going.

  • My surgery was scheduled for 8:00 am. I was told to be there 2 hours prior.  I got there and after taking care of the payment/insurance ppwk, they brought me into the pre op area, I had to change into my gown.  They asked a lot of questions (

  • My c/s was planned due to polyhydramnios and my baby being stuck awkwardly in my pelvis.  I went in around 5am that morning (c/s was scheduled for 7:30).  The nurses took my things to my recovery room.  I was setup on L&D to get prep

  • Day before went in for blood work.

Morning of I had to be there at 7am to start prep. My c/s was scheduled for 8:30. When we got there I found out we were in danger of being pushed back because of an issue another mom was having giving birth.

  • I had a planned c/s, but I ended up going into labor a few days earlier.. but they still went ahead with the c/s.  We got to the hospital and went to the maternity floor.  They did a few tests and checked out that yes, I was in labor and prep

  • Good luck!  I can only describe my RCS as lovely!  Checked in at 8 for a 10am c-section.  First 2 hours flew by as I was getting prepped and talking to my doctor, a resident, a med student assisting, and the anesioslogist (sp?).  OR wa
