Babies: 6 - 9 Months

almost 8 months and not crawling yet

Hi,

My daughter is 8 months old and is still not crawling. When i give her tummy time, every now and then she will scoot back or she will just roll on her side or lay down like it is time to go to sleep. Is anyone else's child not crawling or didn't crawl at this age. What happened?

Re: almost 8 months and not crawling yet

  • One of mine isn't crawling yet.  He just started rolling over a few weeks ago.  They just had their 9 month checkup, and the pediatrician isn't concerned.  I did catch him in his crib on all 4s and rocking.  So he's making progress.&nb

  • Mine isn't close to crawling, just loving rolling around everywhere. I'm not concerned at all. 8months is on the early side anyway to crawl in my mind.

  • 8 months is to early to be worrying about not crawling.

  • DS1 went from army crawling to real crawling to walking in a matter of a few months.  Things happen fairly quickly for some LOs so I wouldn't worry yet.  8 months is still young.

FWIW, my mom said my brother never crawled.  Just st

  • My son just turned 8 months. He's close to crawling, but hasn't actually done it yet.

We see a physical therapist for another issue, and the therapist isn't concerned at all...he says LO is progressing just the way he should.

  • I was talking to pedi about milestones. He said you need to worry about your baby not sitting up by eight months. Other than that, it doesn't matter!

  • My DD (now 2.5 years) skipped crawling, but took her first steps before 10 months. She also walked well before rolling consistently.

  • I wouldn't worry about it.  I thought the same thing about my son and he was just about 8 months.  He would pick his butt up but that was it.  I was concerned because my pediatrician said that they usually start crawling betwee

  • Just echoing everyone else... 8 months is still early.  My older daughter was 9 months when she learned to crawl.  Your baby girl will be on the move before you know it!

  • I really don't mean this rude...but I think it's sad that people are taking bump brag posts about early crawling to the extent that they are worried about their 8 month old crawling.  ALOT of babies aren't crawling at 8 months.  MANY aren't c

  • DS is almost 7 months and he isn't crawling but he does get on all fours and rocks and sometimes scoots backwards also if he is on all fours and tries to move forward and crawl and if he falls on his side he will just roll. I'm not concerned. None of my n

  • My daughter didn't crawl until 11 months and didn't walk until almost 15 months. Don't worry about it all babies are unique and progress at their own speed that's what makes them all so special!
  • My DD crawled for the first time at just over 10 months (toward a dog - I guess that was the motivation she needed - we don't have one, but she LOVES them).  She walked at 13.5.

As everyone said, don't be concerned.
