What is your baby sleeping in when they come home?

What do you plan on having your baby sleep in when they come home?  I'm having twins and was planning on having them sleep together in their crib in our room. But everyone keeps telling me there is no way I am going to have them in the crib when they come home.I have swings, bouncers, pack n play, rock n play sleepers, and a bassinet but I don't understand why I wouldn't want to start them off in the crib.   Is it better for the babies not to sleep in their crib in the beginning?

Re: What is your baby sleeping in when they come home?

  • Crib and bassinet if she tolerates laying flat (DS wasn't a fan) or the RnP if not.  If you can get them in the crib right away, I say go for it.  Can you set up a bed in the room with them just so you're right there since you'll pr

  • They probably say that because if you breastfeeding them, you might soon realize that you will dislike getting up walking while still sore to their room, feed them, walk back to your room. And jumping up and down at their crying every so often.

  • The bassinet part of the pnp in our room. I would have no issues with the baby sleeping in the crib, if the crib were in our room but it's not (actually, DS is still using it in toddler bed form :P)

Ideally, it's probably best to have them sleep in their cribs from the beginning if they will tolerate it, but with my twins, they slept much better in bouncy seats for the first few months (before the advent of RnP).  The first couple months you

  • I'm planning on the crib in her room, since her room is right across the hall and literally two steps away from our room and our room is too small for even a bassinet. I'd say, whatever works for your family!

  • I was going to try and start off in the crib but a few people told me to get a moses basket for the first couple of months and place the baby in that.  They've also suggested placing the moses basket in the crib.  I'm planning on sleeping in

  • Their crib is in our bed room, and two feet away from the bed, so as long as they will sleep in that I will probably use that. I have the glider right next to the crib too. So getting up and breastfeeding won't be an issue. I'll have the other items on st
  • We are probably going to have her sleep in the PNP in our room for the first month or so. I believe the AAP recommends this to lower the risk of SIDS as well (not having your baby sleep in the bed with you, but in your room)
  • LO will be sleeping in the bassinet portion of the PNP that will be set up in our room. There are a few reasons for this though.

#1 - LO doesn't have a room of his own yet.

    #2 - A crib won't fit in our room.

  • Lurking, already had DD. She hates her crib. Luckily, we have a bassinet as well and she tolerates that.
  • I will also say that it would have been ideal to have DD start in her crib but she had bad reflux and a cold soon after she was born. That's not super conducive to sleeping flat. I didn't have anything but a swing because the intention was the crib. Sh

  • I'm planning to use a bassinet in our room for over night and the crib in her nursery for naps. I'm sure we'll do some naps in the swing & bouncy seat too, but I'd rather get her used to sleeping flat from the beginning.

    We did this with DD1

Bassinet next to our bed. I wanted him laying flat from the start so the transition to the crib would be easier. Our plan is to keep him in our room for about a month then transition him to his crib in his room.

But really, we have a Rock n Play and the crib, but she'll probably sleep plenty in bed with us too.

  • Ideally she'll sleep in her bassinet in our room. If she's anything like my last two, we'll end up bed sharing instead. DD1 and DD2 wouldn't sleep at all unless they were touching me (as in snuggled up against me, not just with my hand on them).
