Bedsharing Transition

Talk to me about transitioning from bed sharing.

DD is 9 months and we resorted to bedsharing at 6 months when we gave up the rock n play and swaddle. I wasn't interested in CIO and she refused to sleep in her crib at all or ever so we gave up and brought her to our bed.

Since teething her night habits have gotten worse. Even though we side carred her crib she will only sleep if I'm touching her, even on my chest like a newborn. She nurses 38 times a night pending teeth issues or illness like the cold we just got over.

I'm just exhausted and wish she would just sleep peacefully in her connected crib. I don't mind a few wake ups to nurse but she will not stay asleep unless I'm holding her. She won't nurse side lying either so I sleep sitting up which I'm over at this point.

Her brother was NOTHING like this and never needed any sleep training per se.

Has anyone dealt with such a high needs bed sharer? I think I want to move the mattress on the floor and try and escape the room after she's asleep and she if I can move out that way. Maybe she'll sleep in longer stretches too. Any advice?

  • Thanks ladies. I'll try and transition to side lying nursing to see if that improves both of our sleep in addition to a floor mattress.
