Going to dinner with LO during bedtime

So DH and I have dinner plans at my cousin's house who lives 2 minutes away from my house. Bedtime is usually around 7pm. I was planning on feeding LO and put her in a PNP to sleep......never did it before as we are usually home by bedtime and I am a little nervous about screwing up her routine. Do you take your LO out at night during bedtime.....is everything ok or is it harder to put your LO back into bed once at home?

Re: Going to dinner with LO during bedtime

  • L is pretty easy going and doesn't care at all what is going on around him. 9 o'clock and he's asleep even if we're not home.

  • We did this a few days ago. And it didn't end well. Meltdown during dinner, got to bed at home about an hour later than usual and was up every few hours. BUT, he's been doing that every night since, so I'm guessing it was the start of something that would

  • Sometimes we go out when it's M's bedtime. He usually doesn't sleep because he likes to look at all the new things and people. He doesn't usually get upset though, and sometimes he will sleep in longer the next day! Sometimes lol

  • We do this at least once every weekend. DS just naps when he needs to nap, or eat, or whatever. He doesn't really care about things like that though, so Idk if that'll help or not. We even went out to dinner when he was 6 days old and was just fine.

  • Cj is pretty easy going so I don't hesitate to take him out in the evenings. He'll sleep wherever he is so I don't worry too much about it

  • Here comes the cliche... Every baby is different. DD1 was/is a good sleeper at home, but never anywhere else. DD2 is a bad sleeper, but will fall asleep anywhere... for a minute.

  • Well....so far so good. We got home about 20 min ago, LO is in bed and has not cried yet. I'm hoping she is sleeping :)  She was great at my cousin's house! And when i put her in the PNP after her last bottle, she fell asleep within minutes! I am so
  • Heck no! We don't mess with bedtimes.
