Babies on the Brain

ideas for grandmas's to be

My hubby and I just found out we are pregnant.  We've been trying for 3 years, anyway we want to tell our families at Christmas.  We thought we'd get the Grandma's to be something to tell them we are pregnant.  I'm in need of creative ideas to put under the tree for them to open.  I don't know if I'll last that long without spilling the beans but I'll do my best!

TIA!!  Can't wait to hear the ideas!!!

  • Calm down with the progressively increasing use of the exclaimation mark. You only need one.

Tee shirts, ultrasound pictures, I don't know how much more creative you can get.

  • LOL..... you girls are so dang funny!.

I would get a cute shirt or something.

  • Ok, I'm going to be creative because I'm bored.  Instead of a gift under the tree, why don't you find a shirt that says "KU" or something, and where it Christmas morning as your pj's?

  • What about wrapping up a pos. test for each of them? lol
  • Why don't you wrap ornaments that say "baby's 1st Christmas" or something like that?

I don't know.  I don't do this cutesy crap.  I just invited everyone to dinner, ordered a bottle of wine for the table and let my husband toast to our baby-to-be.

  • IDK, wrap up a bib?
    2 girls and a dog
  • This was my idea for our first born if you happen to have a US pict. frame it in a frame that says I Love You Grandma/Grandpa!

  • buy them a copy of knocked up, and other baby related movies... or you cuold make a keychain out of your pee stick, that would be really cute...Indifferent

  • How exciting for you! Christmas is a great time of year to be able to share this news. You could try a card, "Merry Christmas Grammy - I can't wait to meet you this summer!" I think the framed ultrasound picture is always a good idea too. Good luck!
  • I've been thinking on this while and I've got 2 ideas for what we'd do.  If we had gotten pg in Nov, we would have found out right around Thanksgiving and I bought shirts, one for me to wear that says Future Miller with a down arrow and one for my DH that says First Time Daddy and we were going to wear long sleeve shirts over them and right as everyone sat down to dinner, we were going to take the long sleeve ones off and see who notices first.  If it is going to be around Christmas then we'll buy something small like pacifiers, bibs (that say "I love grandma/grandpa", bottles, and have everyone open them at the same time.

BTW, congrats!!!!!!!!  3 years is a very long time and I can't blame your for being so cheerful!!!!!

  • Perhaps get some of those little photo albums (10-15 pics). I saw some that say Grandma's Brag Book on the cover. Fill in the first page with ultrasound pics, and the rest can be filled in as you go. Put it in a box and wrap it up. Then she'll already have a small album to show off to her friends - 'cause you know that's what grandmothers live for.

  • My DH's parents are the type of people who would love a license plate frame that says, "Happiness is being a Grandparent". And they aren't yet so I was thinking of sending those in the mail (when we are pregnant and ready to tell) and then they would be super surprised!  Or if you are the scrapbooking type you could make a "Grandma/Grandpa's brag book and then just" leave spots for pictures when baby get's here.  Hope it helps and have fun breaking the news!
  • What about wrapping up a pair of baby shoes or booties in a cute little box?  I'm thinking of doing that when I get pregnant for my husband.  I just really want to buy cute tiny baby stuff, though.  Big Smile
  • Print out your due date in a large font.  Place it in a box and wrap it.  Once your in laws open it up and ask what the date means, you can tell them, "It's the date you become grandparents".

  • I found a book that is a type of journal for a Grandma to write about her ?life and answer specific questions about her childhood. The questions and illustrations are beautiful and their written in a way so that it's like a grandchild asking to know about their grandparent's life. I bought it a while ago (even though I'm not pg yet!) and I plan on giving that to my mom and letting her figure it out - It'll be great to watch the meaning of the book register on her face!

?I think it's called something like "Grandma, tell me about when you were young...", something like that, it's packed away right now.??

  • There is a jeweler based out of florida that makes glamma and milf charms. they are really cute and i plan on using them to announce our pregnancy.

i dont think they are listed on her site. ?but she is really accessible. ?www.ajaron.com.

    ?

    congrats ?

  • We will be telling our family at Christmas time and Walmart has the cutest onesies.  They say: Who needs Santa. I've got Grandparents.  We're going to wrap these up.  Check these out:

  • I like the ornament idea... maybe one that says "grandma" or something?
  • You could get picture frames that say Grandma or Granchild on them and put an ultrasound pic in them.  I've also seen cute little necklaces that have charms that say "grandma" on them.  Or wrap up a bib or blanket.  You can tell I've thought about this. I've also thought about money clips for grandpa's to be that say Grandpa.  Congrats!
