Babies: 9 - 12 Months

10 month old doesn't vary babble?

DD seems "hung up" on certain sounds.  For example, she could make an entire language of dada, duds, and dats.  She also likes "yayaya"  I have heard her make b sounds occasionally and a few others, but in general, she doesn't really vary her babble a lot.

In general, DD has been right on track with all development, so I am just more curious if other babies do this.

Does she just like the D sound?  I try to say MaaaaMaaaa several times a day, but so far, she isn't interested.  DH is thrilled, lol.

  • I wouldn't worry about it. My son is all over the place with babbling. I think if they like the way something sounds they keep doing it. I'm sure he will be saying mama in no time. :-)

  • My son is a couple weeks younger than yours, but is doing the same babbling behavior.  He says mamamama, yayayayaya, and bababababa, and he'll only say one of those for a couple days, then go back to another. DH is always saying "say Dada!" - an

  • Ditto.  Well, now she babbles a lot, but was the same way at first.  And I don't feel like we're any closer to actual words for all the sounds she makes.  But then, she's been walking (real walking - unassisted, multiple steps, etc) for fiv
