Bed transition update

I'd love to say that things are going well....but....frankly, they are not.  It will be two weeks tomorrow, and our schedule is a mess.  I'm not throwing in the towel - there's no going back now! - but I think we need to completely start from scratch.

The first four days went great.  She was a little unsure, so I would sit or lay with her while she settled down.  This was taking a little bit, but once she was asleep, she was asleep.  And this is the norm for going to sleep at night, so very close to our regular routine.

The problem was that if she woke up, she'd be uncertain about falling back asleep, and I'd have to go in to settle her down.  When she was in the crib, she was sleeping 10 straight hours overnight and 3 hours every afternoon for nap.  If she woke up, she would put herself back to sleep.  But once she went in the bed, she was only napping 1.5 to 2 hours, overnight sleep went down to 8-9 hours, and she couldn't seem to settle herself back to sleep.

Well, I guess this caught up with her after a few days, and she became overtired and started refusing to settle for her nap.  For a few days, I was spending 1-2 hours trying to help her settle down for a nap, and I finally gave up and left her alone in her room.  After running around like a little maniac, and getting out every toy that she hasn't played with in months, she dragged her changing pad off of the dresser and fell asleep on it by the bedroom door.

Then daylight savings hit, and everything REALLY got screwed up.  Now she's going to bed at normal time at night, but waking after 3-4 hours, and staying awake for two hours stretches!  And then she's exhausted and sleeping late in the a.m., which means she doesn't want to take a nap until really late in the afternoon....so basically, our schedule is a mess.

We have family dinners both nights this weekend, so I'm not starting anything new today.  But I think come Monday morning, I need to start waking her up and starting our day earlier, to move back our nap, and try to get back on track.

I just keep telling myself that no matter how tired I am, I will be waaaay more tired once the new baby gets here.  So I really need to suck it up and get back on schedule now!  FX that I can get this back to normal over the course of this coming week!
